The word “china” names a country and, in English, a material. Jingdezhen is one of the places that made that connection possible.
A city shaped by porcelain
Jingdezhen has been an important ceramic centre for centuries. Its workshops, kilns, raw-material routes and specialist trades helped porcelain travel far beyond China, while forms and techniques arriving from elsewhere were absorbed and transformed in return.
The history matters, but JINGDÉ is interested in the living city: independent studios, glaze specialists, decorators, mould makers and kiln crews continuing to work with porcelain now.
What we select
Our collection looks for clarity of form, considered weight, expressive glazes and details that reward daily use. Each product page records the material, dimensions, care guidance and available provenance for that individual piece.
Made to be used
Porcelain should not have to choose between the cabinet and the table. We favour objects that can bring quiet attention to breakfast, tea, a shared dinner or a thoughtful gift — pieces whose beauty becomes clearer through use.
